Team17 opened the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 pre-show with Worms Galactic Tactics, a new Worms game from Absolutely Games due in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.
The trailer frames it as an intergalactic game show. Worms “carefully kidnapped” from across the galaxy are dropped into floating arenas to compete for a crowned Emperor, and the gameplay shown is a top-down tactics take on the series, with squads moving across blocky island maps, rather than the side-on artillery battles of the classic games.
The same trailer ended with a second announcement: a billboard carrying the classic Worms logo and a sign reading “also in development”. Team17 did not name or date that one. Pre-show host Kyle Bosman called it two Worms announcements in one trailer.
No pricing or further details were shown for either game.
