Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons showed its first in-game footage at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, introduced on stage by Maggie Robertson, the Resident Evil Village actor, who is attached to the game. It is an Invoke Studios production for Wizards of the Coast, set in the Ravenloft domain of Darkon.

The opening cinematic is a pact. A dark-haired warlock with a purple rune under one eye faces a red-haired woman with the same mark, who presses a glowing sigil into her palm: “your magic serves us both”. The lines around it set up the tension the class is built on: “you still think this is your quest?”, “I have seen your heart’s desire”, and, from a bystander, “what exactly is your interest here, or is it your patron’s?”

The gameplay that follows runs for several minutes of third-person action. The warlock walks the rain-slicked streets of a walled, smoke-stacked city, slips through a door into a cellar with a small red winged familiar at her heels, and descends into a vast ruined cathedral where a bone-white, many-legged creature stalks the pews before she takes it apart with bursts of purple eldritch magic and a short blade. A second sequence moves outside to a storm-lashed farmstead and then a dry, hilly village where she fights undead with a mix of magic and melee, casting bolts of crackling yellow lightning, a blue glowing blast, and finishing throws.

The sequences are stealth-and-combat in the vein of a single-player action RPG rather than a party game, with a compact health and resource bar in the corner.

The closing card says “coming 2027”, with a wishlist prompt, the address warlockthegame.com, and PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC storefront logos alongside Wizards of the Coast and Invoke. No price was given.
