Tarae is a Korean folk-horror action game from Krafton and Boundary: ‘I called to the gods, none of them answered’

A boat in the fog, a woman in a blue hanbok, and a wheel that breaks by her own hand; Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Epic, no date.

Tarae, a Korean folk-horror action game shown on its card as “Tara” beside the Hangul 타래, was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 by Krafton and developer Boundary. The card listed Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store, and the footage was marked as in-game from a work-in-progress build. No date was given.

The trailer is quiet and bleak. A small boat drifts through fog with a figure in a wide-brimmed gat hat standing at the prow, and the captions carry the story: “how long, and how alone”, “I called to the gods, none of them answered”, “now, by my own hand, the wheel breaks”. A young woman in a blue hanbok with bloodshot eyes is the lead; a bald monk presses his palms together; a red-lit face fills the screen with “do not be afraid” and “you shall become me”, and a close-up of an eye goes crimson.

The gameplay glimpses are top-down or high-angle: a village of burning thatched roofs and broken palisades, a snow-dusted courtyard, and a fight where a bolt of white light scatters a crowd of dark shapes across a ruined temple.

Boundary is not the first Krafton team to work in this register, but the Joseon-era setting and the wheel-and-gods imagery make this one distinct from the publisher’s other announcements tonight.
