1001 Threads of Mizan, a new action-adventure inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 by the newly formed MBC Game Studio. The trailer’s closing cards listed PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, pointed to 1001threadsofmizan.com, and invited attendees to play a demo in Hall 8.1 of the Gamescom show floor this week. No release window was given.
Host Geoff Keighley’s pitch was “flying carpets, colossal bosses and more”, and the footage, labelled pre-alpha and in-engine, delivered on both. A heroine in a red scarf and blue trousers climbs sandstone canyons, rides a carpet through a rock arch, and surfs one up the flank of a colossal armoured giant whose single eye burns orange. Fights play out in dust storms against warriors carrying huge round shields, with purple energy crackling off the heroine’s blades, and a squad of allies gathers around a spear-wielding brute with a glowing lantern head.
A hooded storyteller with glowing eyes narrates under a night sky: “come close and I will tell you a tale of two worlds at war, set ablaze by a smokeless flame”. Once, she says, “the children of Earth and the Djinn flourished, united, until betrayal split their worlds apart. Now the veil is thinning”, and the trailer ends on “this story begins with you”.
The studio is part of the Saudi broadcaster MBC Group, and Keighley said the game makes its public debut on the Gamescom floor.
