Once Human is coming to consoles as a free game. The card that closed its Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 trailer read “free on console” above PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC logos, with a “coming in” countdown line whose number and unit were cut off on the stream before the trailer ended.
The trailer itself was a survival-sandbox sizzle built partly from player creations: “explore breathtaking, strange worlds”, “make a friend who’d work for you” (over a furry companion in tall grass), and “build your dream home, together”, with an elaborate multi-storey lakeside base credited on screen to community creator Riverboy. It ended on a lone figure facing a snow peak with the words “you’ve changed, but that’s okay”, then one of the game’s flower-headed Deviants and a red vine-choked key art.
Once Human has been free to play on PC since 2024, so the console release matches that model. No specific date was legible.
