Ontos is the next game from Frictional Games, the studio behind SOMA and Amnesia, and it is coming in 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Steam, published by Kepler Interactive. The Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 trailer closed on a wishlist card and a promise of world-exclusive hands-on gameplay from Jacksepticeye on YouTube on August 26.

Host Geoff Keighley described a game of “experiments” and “narrative puzzles where your moral choices affect the outcomes of the mission, as well as the rest of the narrative”. The trailer bears that out: a capsule falling from Earth towards the Moon, a lone crew member in a cramped lunar station, a whiteboard mapping the frontal lobe, motor cortex, and limbic system next to notes on “master reflex” and “stimulus action”, and a scientist strapped into a head rig who stares at the camera with bloodshot eyes as the station’s lights flip from red to blue. The dialogue that came through: “Krombe, do you hear me? Krombe’s experiments can be active right now”, “I assure you there is no mind. Please proceed”, and a scream of “no body!”

The imagery escalates from clinical to organic, a body half-swallowed by a fleshy growth, a chamber of pulsing violet tendrils, a blaze of red light inside a ribbed corridor, which is familiar ground for the studio. No price was given.
