Dlala Studios, the team behind Disney Illusion Island and the 2020 Battletoads, revealed Murals during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 pre-show. It is due in 2027 on Steam, where it can be wishlisted now.
The trailer opens on a painter’s desk, with books, brushes, and spilled paint, and a narrator who says the “delightful stories” that inspired others always fell short of their promise, and that he has found a way to save them and make them better. He turns out to be the villain: a lanky, long-haired figure in purple who paints over the world, and pre-show host Kyle Bosman enjoyed that the trailer simply hands you its final boss.
The gameplay shown is top-down action across painted, mural-like arenas: a puppet-strung hero fighting mobs of small creatures in colourful dungeons, a campfire hub, and a perk shop called Magic Dave’s Apothec-eerie offering upgrades such as Extend o’ Reach and Thorny, with a reroll option. A loadout screen listed Hero, Loadout, Eeries, and Journal tabs.
No consoles were listed on the card, and no price was given.
