The Defiant, a first-person war game set on the Great Wall of China in 1942, was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 with a “wishlist now” card for Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. No date was given.
The trailer is a single desperate defence: Chinese soldiers in cloth caps crouched in a crumbling watchtower as shells land, a caption placing the scene at the Great Wall in 1942, a rifle worked through a loophole, then the wall breached and the fight collapsing into bayonets and fists on the ramparts under a smoke-yellow sky. The subtitled shouts that came through were “don’t let them through”, “go to hell, you bastards”, and “let’s fight them to the death”, and a soldier’s farewell, “I will never forget you, my friend”, before the closing line: “we are the Great Wall built with flesh and blood. We are The Defiant.”
The studio and publisher logos on the card were small on the stream, with 4Divinity and GCL Global among them. No price was given.
