Gears of War: E-Day has a release date: October 6, 2026. Host Geoff Keighley introduced the new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 as an Xbox console exclusive launching this October, and confirmed the date on stage immediately after it.
The trailer, from developer The Coalition, opens on the Locust leader behind the invasion, a hulking figure with a glowing mark on its chest, walking through the aftermath of a massacre and asking, in the voice of one of the humans, “what the fuck are you?”. From there it cuts to the human side of Emergence Day: a commander insisting that “actual monsters are coming out of the ground and ripping my people apart”, gears asking how you hold a line against an enemy that tunnels underneath you, and the answer, “we’re gears, we fight”.
Younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago appear in full armour alongside a female gear and a squad gathering in a ruined interior, with the line “if we can save them, we save” the city. The trailer closes on the two friends promising “we’re together, or we die together”, then a glowing orange chasm as a horde of Locust pours over a ridge.
Geoff Keighley did not repeat the platform list on stage; Microsoft has previously confirmed Xbox Series X|S and PC. No price was mentioned.
