Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final chapter of the Remake trilogy, arrives in spring 2027, and for the first time the trilogy launches everywhere at once. Series director Naoki Hamaguchi announced the window in person at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, and the trailer’s closing card spelled it out: “launching simultaneously on all platforms”, with badges for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
Introduced by host Geoff Keighley as “my good friend”, Hamaguchi took the stage under the game’s cloud-streaked logo and said the game would show “the legendary heroes” facing “the final chapter of their epic journey” and “deliver an unforgettable experience in a world without boundaries”, before reading out the platforms and thanking fans “for all your support and excitement”. On stage he said “Nintendo Switch”; the card’s badge is the Switch 2 mark.
The new trailer opens on a Shinra broadcast to a frightened public, “we are assailed on every side by the enormous meteor that looms over our heads”, with Rufus in the president’s chair and Meteor burning in the sky. The party is scattered across the world: Tifa flipping onto a ship’s deck, Red XIII bounding across a carrier, Barret skydiving under a red parachute over a tropical coast, Yuffie in Wutai’s pagoda streets, Cloud staring up from a submarine as a torpedo runs, and the Highwind, in full, cutting through cloud while Shinra fighters chase it. Junon’s “emergency alert” sirens go off as an airship squadron scrambles.
The Weapons are the enemy. The dialogue frames it: “you said Weapons are guardians of the planet, right? The planet sees us as another threat to its well-being, and rightfully so”, “you call them planetary warriors, but I call them weapons of destruction”, and a lighter beat about “hunting materia, and way overdue for a day off”. A colossal pale Weapon strides through a red desert while Cloud, Tifa, and Barret fight beneath it, a purple vortex tears the canyon open, and a jade-green wave crashes over a city. The last line before the logo: “we’ll finish this together”.
