Right after the Final Fantasy VII Revelation date, Square Enix shadow-dropped Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion on Nintendo Switch 2 at the Nintendo Direct September 2026. The end card reads “Available Later Today on Nintendo eShop.”
The trailer opens on Zack Fair’s line to Cloud, “You will be my living legacy,” and the narration pitches the game as the prequel to Final Fantasy VII, “where it all began.” The footage shows Zack alongside Cloud, a clash with the red-coated Genesis, and a quieter scene between Zack and Aerith.
The title card sits over a gameplay frame with HP, MP and AP bars along the bottom and the Digital Mind Wave reels in the top corner, the slot system that drives Zack’s limit breaks and level-ups.
Reunion is the remaster of the 2007 PSP game, first released on other platforms, including the original Switch, in December 2022. The Direct did not give a price or say whether the Switch 2 release gets a physical edition; the only availability shown was the eShop listing later today.
