Bloober Team revealed Onyx: The Dark Grip at Nintendo Direct September 2026, a new horror game for Nintendo Switch 2. The end card lists it as available in 2027, with no firmer date given.
The trailer opens in a dim wallpapered bedroom with a static-filled television, then follows a man named Holden through a snowbound forest, a rail yard, and a fenced compound in thick fog. “Beckoned by a mysterious voice, Holden enters a town shrouded in fog,” the narration says. Holden talks to himself along the way: “I can feel it. Behind the walls.”
The player controls Holden, but the trailer’s central idea is that you also act on the world from outside him. Using the touchscreen, according to the narration, “you can unlock doors, read unsuspecting minds, and interact with the environment in other ways.” Holden perceives that intervention as supernatural phenomena, and “his grip on reality begins to slip away.” One on-screen prompt reads “snap left to realign reality.”
Every gameplay shot in the trailer was framed inside a Switch 2 in handheld form, with the caption “Playable exclusively in handheld mode.” Bloober Team is the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake and Cronos: The New Dawn. The trailer showed the Switch 2 logo only, and it did not list any other platform or a price.
