Nintendo showed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition at Nintendo Direct September 2026, a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Koei Tecmo’s 2020 action game set 100 years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It launches on February 25, 2027, and pre-orders open later today on the Nintendo eShop.
The trailer opens on Zelda and the four Champions facing the Calamity, then cuts to Link and Impa carving through crowds of Bokoblins and Moblins on open fields, a Lynel fight in a snowfield, and a Divine Beast sequence. An on-screen caption promises battles at 60fps, and the narration says the edition brings “enhanced visuals and framerate, as well as battles featuring more enemies on screen.”
All content from the original game’s expansion pass is included, according to the on-screen caption, and a new, harder difficulty called Calamity Mode has been added. “Can you take down the toughest monsters Hyrule has to offer?” the narration asks over that footage.
Owners of the Nintendo Switch version can get a discount on the digital Switch 2 game through the eShop, and existing save data can be transferred across. Nintendo said more details on the discount will be on the official game website. No price was shown, and the Direct did not say whether a physical edition is planned.
