Bandai Namco and Malaysian studio Metronomik, the team behind No Straight Roads, revealed Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale at Nintendo Direct September 2026, a rhythm and puzzle adventure about a girl trying to earn the title of Worldbuilder.
The trailer opens on a shadow-puppet prologue that introduces the Worldbuilder as “one entrusted with the well-being of the world”, then cuts to Kaya, a small kid in a chef’s hat carrying a spoon nearly as big as she is. A callout card names it the Magical Spoon, a “Rhythm-Scooping Utensil”. The footage has her bounding through bright paper-craft regions: a forest path, a canyon of folded blue cliffs, a lily-pad pond, and a night-time field packed with rows of figures swaying around a central blaze, with a meter along the top edge that suggests a set-piece encounter.
The narration lays out the loop: “Solve music-based puzzles as you bound across whimsical regions, and use your magical spoon to scoop up the rhythm of the world.” Staying on beat is the core of it, and the trailer frames the whole thing as a coming-of-age odyssey to “prove Kaya has what it takes to become a world builder”.
The end card lists Nintendo Switch 2 and “Available 2027”, and the voiceover said “next year”. No price or pre-order details were shown. The Direct only mentioned the Switch 2 version; Bandai Namco’s own announcement, published alongside the show, also lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, according to the publisher.
