Nintendo closed Nintendo Direct September 2026 with Kirby and the World Beyond, a new 3D Kirby game for Nintendo Switch 2. The host introduced it as the show’s last announcement, and a Spring 2027 card followed the title.
The trailer opens in a bright valley of rolling hills, dome-shaped houses and arched rock formations. Kirby runs along dirt paths, crosses wooden bridges, drifts over the fields under a parasol, opens chests, fights Waddle Dees and a spiked enemy, and at one point steps inside a wooden hut. The footage runs for well over two minutes with no narration at all.
The tone shifts when Kirby picks up a sword and a green cap. A huge glowing blade crashes through what looked like the sky, cracking it open like a shell, and the camera pulls back to show a far larger landscape outside the valley. On the title card, Kirby walks toward that outer world beside a small white character.
The host then filled in the basics: “The latest game in the Kirby series is coming to Nintendo Switch 2,” describing it as a “3D adventure” where players freely explore “while using Kirby’s copy abilities.” He added that “next year, the Kirby series will mark its 35th anniversary,” and a Kirby 35th Anniversary logo appeared on screen. More information is promised for the future. No firmer date than Spring 2027 was given, no price was shown, and Switch 2 was the only platform named.
