LEVEL-5 gave Professor Layton and the New World of Steam a release date at Nintendo Direct September 2026: December 10, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The end card carried both platform logos, and the gameplay footage was captioned as the Switch 2 version.
The trailer opens on an airship over a clockwork city and follows Layton and Luke Triton, introduced as a “puzzle-solving detective”, into Steam Bison, a town of inventions. According to the narration, puzzles and mysteries “await around every corner”, and players “draw lines, flip switches, unlock mechanisms and more” to work through them.
The puzzle screens shown include a wiring puzzle where four lines must be drawn through a grid of nodes, a door-matching riddle at a workshop, a cargo-loading logic problem with three ships, and a block-fitting puzzle to assemble a walker. One card credited puzzle design to QuizKnock, the Japanese quiz group, and another described the game as having the biggest collection of puzzles in series history.
Each solved puzzle “uncovers more of the story”, the narration said, and players who get stuck can “solve it with friends and family”. The trailer closes on a story tease it calls “the series’ biggest mystery”. No price or pre-order details were shown.
