Hall of Thanes is a new dungeon beneath Ironforge in World of Warcraft: Forever, shown by lead software engineer Nora Mills at the World of Warcraft: Forever What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026. The slide read “New Dungeons: Hall of Thanes” over a dark stone hall lit by two braziers, and Mills introduced it as the Alliance counterpart to the Horde’s ruins of Lordaeron.
“The dwarven capital city of Ironforge is carved within the mountains of Dun Morogh, and its mighty halls run deep,” Mills said. “Beneath the city proper lies the Hall of Thanes, a final resting place for the dwarven monarchs of old.” She described it as well tended and for the most part left undisturbed, until now: “Someone’s broken into the place. I suspect the Dark Irons.”
Alliance players “might feel inspired to uproot these intruders,” Mills said, with a warning that “ghostly whispers echo these corridors,” so the suggestion is to be “at least somewhere in the 13 to 18 level range.” That makes it the lowest-level dungeon of the four she named in this stretch of the panel.
As with Lordaeron, the other faction has no invitation. “The dwarves I know would never let some Horde waltz right into their sacred burial chamber,” Mills said. Horde players who are curious “will need to find a way to sneak in, or perhaps carve your way through.” No gameplay footage of the interior was shown beyond the slide, and no bosses were named.
