World of Warcraft: Forever adds camping, a social trade skill system that Associate Production Director Clay Stone described during the World of Warcraft: Forever What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026. “Almost anywhere in the open world, players can craft a campsite,” Stone said. “Other adventurers can stop by, stay a while, and use their trade skills to craft something for the campsite, granting everyone there a specific buff.”
The screen behind him showed a party of characters, including a gnome and a night elf, sitting around a campfire in a purple-lit forest clearing. Stone said camping sits on top of the new professions content arriving elsewhere in WoW Forever: “With camping, we are doubling down on trade skills.”
The design intent is social. Stone tied it to the game’s pillar of nurturing and protecting social experiences, and to the fact that the buffs are not instant. “Because players need to sit there for a moment before they gain any buffs, maybe, just maybe, they just might talk to each other,” he said.
The panel did not say which professions contribute to a campsite, what the buffs are, or whether camping will be in the September 17 beta.
