Diablo IV’s next season has a name and a date. On stage at BlizzCon 2026, in the Diablo 30th anniversary segment, the Diablo team announced Season of Hell’s Legacy, launching Tuesday, September 15. It is the game’s fifteenth season by our count, following Season 14, Season of Death Awakening, which began June 30.

Tiffany Wat and Brent Gibson opened under the Diablo 30 logo with a look back at the year: the Paladin shadow-dropped at The Game Awards, then the Warlock in Diablo IV, Diablo Immortal, and Diablo II: Resurrected.

Deckard Cain and the old places
“In just a few days, Diablo 4 begins its biggest anniversary moment yet, celebrating 30 years of darkness,” Gibson said. “Season of Hell’s Legacy launches Tuesday, September 15th.” The key art went up as he spoke.
The season brings back Deckard Cain. “As the dead return from Pandemonium, a familiar soul will find his way back to Sanctuary,” Gibson said. Cain leads players into what the team called waking nightmares, “where some of Diablo’s most unforgettable moments come back to haunt you.” The Diablo team on stage named three locations from earlier games: Tristram Cathedral, the Worldstone Chamber, and the Durance of Hate.

Face all three, then choose one
Waiting inside are the three Prime Evils, Baal, Mephisto, and, in the team’s words, “the birthday boy himself, Diablo.” Players face all three, reclaiming the fragments of their souls, then decide. “You’re going to decide which evil you would want to embrace,” Gibson said, “and that choice will unlock new powers and will reshape the entire season around you.” No specifics on the powers were given. No gameplay was shown, only key art.
The team also promised anniversary gear: “You’ll collect legendary gear inspired by every era of Diablo, including the return of iconic treasures like the Stone of Jordan.”

On the show floor now
“You can jump into a special Season of Hell’s Legacy experience today on the show floor,” the Diablo team on stage said. “You’re going to be battling your way through some of Diablo’s greatest moments with an old friend to take you along the way. And trust me, you’ll want to stay a while and listen.” They added that “maybe you’ll find an utterly malevolent evil waiting to butcher you at the end,” without naming it. Everyone else “won’t have to wait long to play at home.”
What was not said
The season name never appeared on a card, only in speech, so the spelling here follows how it was said. Nobody said “Season 15”: that is our count. The presenters did not list platforms, did not say whether the Lord of Hatred expansion is required, and did not describe what the new powers do or how the show floor demo relates to the season. The segment then passed to Joe Shely for a separate announcement.
