Talebound, the roguelite action RPG mode announced for World of Warcraft, ships with four stories, Jake Miller, Lead Content Designer, said at the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026. A slide titled Biomes and Bosses showed the four environments: a gothic city under a red moon, a mossy grove with a cottage and a giant spider, a fog-bound coast with a hulking green figure, and a blue night field where a horned creature swings a whip of light.
“There are four stories to explore, told and retold and retold until you can best them,” Miller said. Darkhaven is home to Conrad von Sonnenheim, the Lord Marshal, and Alexander de Zinc, the Blood Bishop. Greenthistle Wood houses Granny Greenthumb, Ilsega Vilefang, witch of the wilds, and Mobog, the giant of Greenthistle. Greywake’s Expedition tells of those who fell to Zygth the Hadal Tyrant and Cothwa, the herald from beyond. The Grove of the Night Court pairs a fairy queen with a nightmare king.
The footage that followed carried on-screen labels for Greenthistle Wood and Greywake’s Expedition. It shows a cobbled path through glowing red mushrooms, packs of boars and mushroom creatures in tall grass, a treant boss, a ruined shrine with tentacles in the mist, an armored beast with glowing eyes, a lizard-like creature in a torchlit hall, and a robed figure with a squid for a head.
Only the two labeled tale names appeared on screen. The boss names above are as spoken on stage, so spellings may differ once Blizzard publishes them. No Talebound release date, price, or access method has been given.
