World of Warcraft: Midnight adds a top 5% Mythic Plus reward, ranked against your spec

Top 1% and top 5% percentiles will be calculated against players of your spec, so off-meta specs get a fair shot at the rewards.

Mythic Plus is getting a new top 5% seasonal reward in patch 12.2 Eclipse, and both the top 1% and top 5% rewards will be ranked against players of your spec rather than everyone, Associate Game Director Paul Kubit said at the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026.

Kubit set it up as the next step after changes already live in Midnight: the Keystone Myth achievement, and the old top 0.1% achievement extended into a top 1% tier. “In Eclipse, we’re going a little bit further,” he said. “There will be a top 5% reward for Mythic Plus. So if you’re one of those players who loves pushing keys, the top 1% isn’t quite for you, this might be for you.”

The bigger change is how the percentiles are calculated. “Instead of tracking your rating percentile against all other players, you’ll instead be ranked against players of your spec,” Kubit said. His example was tanking: if Monk tanks are the meta and squeeze out more rating, a Paladin tank still has “a better chance getting that top 5%, that top 1% as a Paladin. So you should just play what you want to play.”

The team hopes it produces more spec diversity in Season 3. What the top 5% reward actually is was not shown.
