World of Warcraft’s Talebound progression runs through four Quillgrave vendors

Between runs the Arcanist adds potions, the Scribe sells talents, the Outfitter raises starting stats and the Antiquarian grants passives.

Talebound’s progression loop got its own slide during the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026, with lead content designer Jake Miller explaining how the roguelite mode carries power between runs. “After each run of a tale, return to Quillgrave to work together with the Arcanist, Scribe, Outfitter, and Antiquarian to improve your odds in your next attempt,” he said.

Each of the four village figures handles a different layer. According to Miller, the Arcanist “provides new potions, draughts, and flasks to be found throughout the tale,” the Scribe “provides talents that change the abilities you use to best your foes,” the Outfitter “improves your starting health, damage, energy, and focus,” and the Antiquarian “provides meaningful passives that augment how each tale may be approached.”

The slide showed the Scribe’s window: a talent tree for the Slayer running down the centre in gold and green nodes, with Witch and Inquisitor panels either side, each with its own progress bar (the Witch at 5 of 16, the Inquisitor at 2 of 16) and an Activate button. A counter in the corner read 7, next to a scroll icon. The Witch panel reads “Wear a crown of moonlight and speak forgotten names,” and the Inquisitor panel “Wield your words like weapons, and keep the cleansing fires tended.”

How many talent points a run earns, and whether progression is shared across a Warband, was not covered.
