World of Warcraft: Midnight’s first legendary is Midnight’s Edge, a caster dagger

Paul Kubit showed the model and a mostly redacted tooltip: one-hand dagger, binds when picked up, and the raid clear is only one step to getting it.

World of Warcraft: Midnight’s first legendary weapon is called Midnight’s Edge, Associate Game Director Paul Kubit revealed at the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026. It is a caster dagger, and it drops out of the Worldcore, the eight-boss Eclipse raid that ends with Xal’atath.

Kubit called it “the first legendary of Midnight and indeed the first legendary of the World Soul Saga.” He was clear it is not a return of a familiar weapon: “this is not the Black Blade of the Empire that you shadow priests along with me once wielded. This is its own thing. It’s got its own cool things that it does.”

The slide showed the model, a curved gold blade with runes along the edge, a swirling blue Void core at the hilt and three blue spikes on the guard. Kubit also put up a tooltip, though most of it was blacked out. What could be read: Midnight’s Edge binds when picked up and is a one-hand dagger. The equip and use lines were redacted down to the word “Void” repeated over and over, which drew a laugh from the room.

Getting it will take more than a raid clear. “Defeating the raid is just one of the steps you’re gonna have to complete to obtain this thing,” Kubit said. The full tooltip, the rest of the acquisition chain and which caster specs can use it were not shared.
