Blizzard opened its patch 12.2 Eclipse breakdown at the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026 with a new zone called the Mantle Vault. Associate Game Director Paul Kubit described it as a cavern “hidden away eons ago by the Titans” that is “half Azerite crystal, half Titan machine”, and the place where players make their final stand against Xal’atath.

The footage shows golden Azerite crystal formations bursting through Titan stonework, a sealed vault door lit by a column of energy, blue crystal caverns and a Void-corrupted stretch of the zone. Kubit said Midnight’s battle between Light and Void gets turned “up to 11” here, with players bringing their own Light wielding forces against Xal’atath’s Devouring Host.

Two new groups live in the zone. The Thraegar are an ancient race of crystalline, dwarf-like creatures that the Earthen only know from tales and whispers; Kubit said they are enormous in game and glow. On the other side of the zone sits the Deepskar Empire, a coalition of kobolds, troggs and drogbar led by the Niffen from Zaralek Cavern, hostile this time. The zone also has its own Azerite-based wildlife: stone worms, crystalline elementals and a giant Azerite bat.

No release date for Eclipse was given during this part of the panel.
