World of Warcraft: Midnight’s Delves get a fresh round of updates in patch 12.2 Eclipse, Associate Game Director Paul Kubit said at the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026. The Eclipse story itself starts inside one. “The Eclipse story actually kicks off in a Delve,” Kubit said, adding that he could not say much more “without revealing some juicy story bits.”
The slide, titled New Delves, showed Valeera Sanguinar with her green blades in front of a blue crystal cavern. Valeera keeps levelling alongside players, up to level 100, with a new set of curios and what Kubit called “a refreshed sense of vengeance.”
Season 3’s Delve nemesis is Astalor Bloodsworn. Kubit described him as “more deadly, more scheming, and more uncomfortably sensual than any we’ve ever faced before,” and tied his turn to the Prey hunts and anguish investigation of earlier seasons: “it all really takes its toll on an elf.” The nemesis slide listed two bullets, New Prey/Anguish and Delve variations.
With Astalor as nemesis come new opt-in challenges for Delves, similar to the torments on hard and nightmare Prey. Kubit called this “pretty early design, subject to change,” aimed at gameplay you can match to your preferred playstyle. Existing Delves also get additional variations. How the Astalor arc resolves was left open: “Time will only tell exactly how close to death we have to bring Astalor before he succumbs to us.”
