The Talebound segment of the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026 continued with a narrated “Our Story” sequence and a walkthrough of how a run is built, presented by lead content designer Jake Miller. The sequence opens on a lonely stretch of road, where a weary traveler meets a stranger sitting by a fire who says, “Let me tell you a story.” The stranger is the storyteller, shown with a quill, and the video cuts between a gothic graveyard, an overgrown ruin, and a red-leaved forest.
According to the narration, players “experience the tales of the storyteller, differently themed levels with their own loots, enemies, bosses, stories and puzzles.” Runs are about exploring those tales “for potions, treasure chests, and lost relics that power you up” on the way to a final confrontation against the one who “marks your step with word and pen.”
Between stories, players rest in a village called Quillgrave, “hanging your cap up as you sip cocoa and strategize for the tales to come.” The slide shows a stone hall with red drapes, an open book on a raised platform, and characters lounging on benches. The narration calls it “a place that seems familiar, but is not quite right,” and adds that “the storyteller and the village don’t like to leave a tale unfinished.”
Miller then moved to the classes, starting with the Slayer. “Combat in Talebound tells a deliberate positional story, where every class double jumps, dodges, and guards,” he said, adding that lesser enemies flinch when attacked. Nothing new was said about a release date, pricing, or how the mode is accessed.
