Starting in patch 12.2.5, the update after Eclipse, World of Warcraft: Midnight players will be able to transmog gear across all armor types, Paul Kubit said at the World of Warcraft: Midnight What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026.
“As you all know, transmog is the true endgame of WoW,” Kubit said. “Problem is, sometimes restrictions get in the way. You might see the perfect helm appearance, but it’s cloth armor and you don’t wear cloth. These boots would look fantastic with these pants, but the pants are leather and the boots are mail and you’re a death knight. What if none of that mattered?”
“Starting in patch 12.2.5, you’ll be able to transmog your gear across all armor types without restriction,” he said. The slide, labelled Preview: Transmog Updates, showed two characters, one in a silver plate set with a glowing blue weapon effect and one in a dark purple robe.
The roadmap slide shown right afterwards lists Transmog Updates under 12.2.5 in spring 2027, alongside story and quests and a world event called Soulstorms. Kubit did not say whether weapon restrictions change, or whether class-specific armor sets are included.
