War Plans progression in Diablo IV is moving from the character to the realm, and a season earlier than planned, the team said during the Diablo IV: What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026.
“We’ve received a lot of feedback on this one since the launch of Lord of Hatred, and we were really looking for the right time to do it,” the team said. “Now we were originally going to do this in Season 16, but we’ve moved it ahead to Season 15. And that is going to allow you to make progression in War Plans and not have to start over with a new character. So it’s going to be realm-based progression now.” Season 15 is Season of Hell’s Legacy, which the panel said starts September 15.
The host called it good news for players who run alts. The footage showed the War Plans window at Rank 5 of 10, with an activity skill tree for The Undercity at level 2 of 7 and the note “Complete War Plans with this Activity to progress.”
The panel did not say whether War Plans progress already earned on existing characters carries over, or how realm-based progression splits between the Seasonal and Eternal realms.
