Blizzard premiered the Season of Hell’s Legacy gameplay trailer at the Diablo IV: What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026; senior game director Brent Gibson said the crowd was “seeing [it] for the first time”.
It opens on three glowing crystals, yellow, red and blue, hanging over candles and cracking with light, while Deckard Cain narrates: “Some horrors refuse to stay buried. To save our future you must face the past.” Cain then appears at a candlelit desk across from an armored character, and the trailer cuts to a robed figure in a grey, hazy field and an armored knight raising a glowing blue sword against a spectral shape. “Enter the darkest corners of their minds,” Cain says. “Contain their corruption. Bend it to your will.”
Three powers get named cards: Flames of Metus, over a red horned face; Ice of Excidium, over a gold one; and the Abyssal Splinter of Anguish, a golden crest with a line credited to Andariel, Maiden of Anguish. A Barbarian picks up Messerschmidt’s Reaver, a unique two-handed axe the card calls “the late Prince Aidan’s greataxe”, scavenged from the Tristram cathedral.
A cosmetics run tagged “certain items require purchase” shows named sets for the Druid (Dulra), Warlock (Witch Doctor), Paladin (Zakarum) and Sorcerer (Isendra). The trailer closes on Diablo before a burning Tristram church, flanked by two other demons, as Cain says, “only by confronting the past can you shape the future.”
No closing frame carried a date or platform card; the Opening Ceremony gave the season a September 15 launch.
