The team laid out its priorities for Diablo IV after Season of Hell’s Legacy during the Diablo IV: What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026, under a slide titled Beyond Hell’s Legacy: build novelty, the endgame, and a story arc across seasons that leads to the new aspect of death.
Build novelty is “the crux of every season,” the team said, and it will come from seasonal itemization, in “the form of new types of equipment modifiers” and “new types of cube recipes, and yeah, we’re just really going to try and blow it out.”
For the endgame, the focus is War Plans, which the team wants to push past the Season 15 changes, with playlist customization, more seasonal variety, and more War Plans content.
The arc builds on Lord of Hatred. In the current season, players discovered a death cult that is opening ruptures, with “a lot of mystery surrounding them.” In Season of Hell’s Legacy, “the dead are starting to come back to life.” Over the next year of seasons, leading up to the release of the Amazon, players will confront the death cult “before they consume Sanctuary and ultimately confront the aspect of death.” The host pointed out that the Season 14 boss says “he is coming” when killed, meaning the new aspect of death, and the team confirmed it.
No season names, dates, or specific features beyond these were given. The Amazon class pack was dated to the first half of 2027 at the Opening Ceremony.
