Blizzard will give regular updates on Diablo V’s development starting in 2027, Matt Zitterman said near the close of the Diablo V panel at BlizzCon 2026, and it announced the game this early to get player feedback into the process.
“It’s super important that Diablo V feels unmistakably Diablo, in particular for our long-time players,” Zitterman said, whether they started with Diablo IV or have played since Diablo I or II. “When you’re building a game, you need other people to look at your work and give you that critical feedback. And so we want to get that feedback now. We want to get that feedback as early as possible. That’s why we’re announcing today.”
He said he grew up on blue posts, vidocs and blog posts as a fan and wants the same on the road to shipping Diablo V. “This today, the information we’re sharing, this is just the start,” he said. “You can expect that we’re going to be giving regular updates about how development is going and what we’re excited about, to get that feedback from all of you, starting in 2027.”
He did not say what form the updates will take, or whether any playable test is planned before the Spring 2029 window given at the Opening Ceremony.
