Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, more than 13 years after GTA V. It’s set in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, with Vice City at its heart, and it follows two leads, Lucia and Jason. Here’s everything Rockstar has confirmed so far, with nothing from leaks or rumors.

GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

  • Release date: November 19, 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with PS5 Pro enhancements. Rockstar says it “plays best on PlayStation 5.”
  • PC: not announced
  • Pre-load: from November 12, 2026, for digital pre-orders and boxed copies (release time and pre-load details)

The release date moved twice: from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, then to November 19, 2026.

GTA 6 costs $79.99, or $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition

The Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the digital-only Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Pre-orders and purchases before November 20 get the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders add a free month of GTA+. Boxed copies contain a download code, not a disc. Our editions guide lists every Ultimate Edition item.

Setting: Leonida and Vice City

Rockstar describes the state of Leonida as “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.” Vice City, the neon-soaked city from 2002’s GTA: Vice City, returns as its biggest city. The trailers have also shown beaches, swamps, highways, marinas and small towns, so the map stretches well beyond the city.

Story and characters

Lucia and Jason are partners in crime and the game’s two leads. Rockstar says they’re “forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive,” and the trailers lean heavily on their relationship.

Every trailer so far

  • Trailer 1 (December 2023): the first look at Lucia, Vice City and the social-media-soaked version of Leonida.
  • Trailer 2 (May 2025): Jason and Lucia together, and the first long look at the world.
  • An Extended Look (August 27, 2026): a longer showcase that Rockstar announced ahead of time.
  • Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026): the final trailer before release, ending on the November 19 date.

Music and radio

Rockstar says GTA 6 has “the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio yet,” and it published a first look at the stations on October 8. You can preview them on the official site, and Rockstar is also taking pre-orders for GTAVI: The Album.

Is GTA 6 single-player or online?

Rockstar’s pre-order announcement calls the $79.99 game “a single-player experience.” Rockstar hasn’t detailed online plans for GTA 6 yet, so anything you’ve read about a GTA 6 Online launch is unconfirmed for now. We’ll cover it the moment Rockstar does.

GTA 6 is rated M for Mature

GTA 6 is rated M for Mature in North America. Rockstar lists blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content and drug and alcohol use, plus in-game purchases.

Still unconfirmed: unlock time, download size, PC and online

  • The exact unlock time on November 19 (midnight local time is likely, but unconfirmed)
  • The download size
  • When, or if, a PC version arrives
  • Rockstar’s plans for online play
