Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you’ve pre-ordered a digital copy, you can start downloading it a week early, from November 12, so it’s ready to play the moment it unlocks. There’s no PC version announced yet.
GTA 6 release date
Rockstar’s official site lists the launch as “Coming November 19, 2026” for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date has held since Rockstar moved the game from May 26, 2026, and it’s the date printed on the Launch Trailer that went up on October 15.

GTA 6 release time
Rockstar hasn’t announced an exact unlock hour yet. Console games bought digitally usually unlock at midnight in your local time on launch day, which would put GTA 6 at 12:00 AM on November 19 wherever you are. Treat that as the most likely time, not a confirmed one. We’ll update this page with the official times by region as soon as Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox publishes them.
When can you pre-load GTA 6?
Rockstar’s pre-order announcement says players who pre-order a digital copy “will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026.” That’s seven days before launch, and the PlayStation Store lists the same “7-Day Pre-load” on both editions.
- Digital pre-orders (PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store): the download becomes available on November 12.
- Boxed copies: there’s no disc in the box. You get a download code instead, and Rockstar says that code also works for pre-loading from November 12. Redeem it as soon as you have it.
- Pre-loading doesn’t let you play early. The game stays locked until launch.
How much space will GTA 6 need?
Rockstar hasn’t published an official file size. It’s a huge open world with a big soundtrack, so make room well before November 12, and expect a day-one patch on top of the pre-load. We’ll add the exact size the moment the store listings show it.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not at launch. Rockstar has only announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That matches how the studio launched past games: GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both reached PC long after their console releases. Nothing about a PC date has been announced.
Can you still get the pre-order bonus?

Why GTA 6 isn’t out sooner
GTA 6 has slipped twice. Rockstar first aimed for fall 2025, moved it to May 26, 2026, then moved it again to November 19, 2026, saying it needed the extra time to deliver the game at the quality players expect. Everything Rockstar has released since, from the August 27 Extended Look to the October 15 Launch Trailer, has pointed at November 19.
