Deep Silver and KING Art Games have unveiled The Last Stand, the horde survival mode coming to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. The reveal came in a 30-minute Battlefield Report trailer, and the game launches December 3, 2026.
In The Last Stand, three players team up as Commanders to survive 20 increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Each Commander can gain up to 30 levels in a single playthrough, unlocking skills and equipment along the way. Players also collect health supplies between waves and must control key positions across the battlefield.
A new addition is the Strikeforce system. Each Commander leads up to four Companion units, each with its own specialization to unlock, which the publisher says allows more tactical combinations. The mode launches with five Commanders covering all four factions, including the Blood Ravens and Dark Angels Space Marine Chapters. More Commanders will follow as free DLC.
Commander Edition players get in four days early
Players who buy the Commander Edition can deploy on November 30 through a 3-Day Early Unlock. Both editions are available to pre-order now with a 10% discount.
According to the publisher, Year One includes free updates that bring back Crusade Mode, plus new maps, modes, Commanders and the Mission Editor. Two major story expansions are also planned, one that deepens the conflict on Kronus and one that adds a new playable faction.
