Owlcat Games detailed the progression system for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, showing how players will build characters around weapons and gear rather than fixed classes.

Players start by choosing one specialization as a foundation, then can branch across four skill trees: Marksmanship, Gadgets, Survivalist, and Leader. This lets players mix and match abilities to create their own playstyle. The system applies to companions too, who can gain specializations and gadget upgrades within their areas of expertise.

Weapons and gadgets evolve alongside the player. Once acquired, gear can be enhanced along multiple upgrade paths, with some rare upgrades changing how a weapon functions entirely. Developing gear to match your playstyle is a core part of progression.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn lands in spring 2027 on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Players can wishlist the game now.
