God of War Laufey is no longer a February game. Santa Monica Studio announced today that it has moved the PS5 exclusive to May 20, 2027, about three months after the February 16 date on Sony’s game page, which still showed the old date when we checked this afternoon.
Watch the short YouTube“With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God of War Laufey’s release to May 20th, 2027. We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.”
Santa Monica cites finishing touches and gives no other reason
The statement doesn’t describe a specific problem. It thanks fans for their excitement since the June reveal, says the studio doesn’t take for granted “the trust placed in the studio,” and asks for patience, with “more updates soon.”
Sony’s Collector Box was also listed for February 16
PlayStation’s pre-order post lists the $149.99 Collector Box for February 16, 2027. The delay statement doesn’t mention pre-orders or editions, so we don’t yet know how Sony will handle them.
Faye’s story through the Everywhen now arrives in May
Revealed at June’s State of Play, Laufey stars Faye, Kratos’ late wife, on a journey through the Everywhen. Early replies in the r/playstation thread were largely patient. “Obviously a bummer, but only 3 months ain’t bad,” one player wrote, while another simply said, “Let them cook.”
