Lords of the Fallen II lets you swap weapons mid-combo and throw spells without breaking melee

CI Games also nearly doubled weapon movesets to almost 30, in a combat overhaul it says was built on feedback from players.

Lords of the Fallen II lets you switch between two melee loadouts in the middle of a combo, and fire off spells or javelins without leaving your melee stance. CI Games showed both in Steel & Sorcery, Episode 11 of its Lifting the Veil series, and says the combat overhaul was built on feedback from the Lords of the Fallen community.

You can go from dual daggers to a scythe inside one combo

CI Games calls seamless mid-combo weapon switching one of the biggest additions. You swap between two different melee loadouts without breaking the flow of the fight. Its example is a flurry of dual dagger strikes that goes straight into a scythe swing, all in a single combo.

Two Quickfire abilities per loadout cover spells, javelins and buffs

Quickfire abilities let you use ranged attacks, magic or buffs instantly without changing stances. Each melee loadout holds two, so you can launch a javelin mid-combo, enhance your weapons or weave spells into your attacks.

Almost 30 weapon movesets, nearly double the 2023 game

CI Games says there are almost 30 fully distinct weapon movesets, nearly double the number in Lords of the Fallen (2023). Weapon classes get their own moves, from repositioning strikes and endless combo chains to sweeping area attacks. One-handed and two-handed styles are also more distinct, and new counterstrikes and boss weapons with signature attacks join the arsenal.

Casters get seven schools of magic and up to eight ready spells

Dedicated magic and ranged stances now offer the same mobility as melee, according to the studio. Each catalyst holds up to four instantly castable spells, and a button press swaps to a second catalyst with four more. There are also chargeable spell variants, seven schools of magic and mana restoration through the Sanguinarix.

Bows and crossbows never run out of base ammo

All bows and crossbows come with an infinite base ammo type, while stronger ammunition is replenished at stations around the world. CI Games is making it easier to change builds late in the game too: you can recover weapon upgrades for a small cost, so an investment in one weapon doesn’t lock you in.

Lords of the Fallen II is due in 2027 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series

CI Games lists the sequel as coming in 2027, and its Steam page doesn’t have a firm date yet. The studio also released two minutes of new combat gameplay alongside the episode.
