Path of Exile 2 1.0 launches December 11 with 10 classes, the promised other two come later

Jonathan Rogers also said not every Path of Exile 1 microtransaction has been ported yet, and finishing it could bring WASD to Path of Exile 1.

Path of Exile 2 will launch its 1.0 release on December 11 with 10 classes, not the 12 Grinding Gear Games promised, game director Jonathan Rogers said at ExileCon 2026. “We did promise you guys 12 classes and yes there are only 10. Now the other two will come, just not immediately,” he told the crowd.

The admission closed a recap of how far the game has moved since early access opened two years ago with four major updates. Rogers said boss count went from 40 to over 100, monster types from 400 to over 800, base types from 400 to over 600, and uniques from 200 to over 400. Six classes with 175 skills became 10 classes with 320 skills, alongside 535 support gems, a 4,000 node passive tree, and 26 ascendancy classes. The endgame now has over 150 maps and eight pinnacle bosses on the Atlas, according to the studio.

Rogers also apologized that not all Path of Exile 1 microtransactions have been ported to Path of Exile 2 yet. More will be ported for 1.0, but the work is not finished. He said completing it would let Path of Exile 1 drop its old character rigs and add more melee skills, “and maybe even WASD.”

No date was given for the two remaining classes, and Rogers did not name them.

Still unanswered

  • When will the last two classes arrive, and which classes are they?
  • Which Path of Exile 1 microtransactions are still missing at launch?
