Path of Exile 2 is getting a rebuilt Atlas tree for its 1.0 launch, game director Jonathan Rogers said at the ExileCon 2026 keynote. The new tree has only 70 nodes, down from a version Rogers said “just had too many nodes for a tree where you allocate everything.”
“All the power of the previous Atlas tree has been completely condensed down to a much smaller number of nodes,” Rogers said. Points now come from fortress objectives instead of arriving in one dump at the end. Each special map, the ones marked with icons, gives one point, with more from reactors, towers and fortress bosses. Players who beeline the objectives should hold about 50 of the 70 points by the pinnacle boss kill, with the rest a short cleanup.
League questlines are faster to reach: once a quest to travel to a hub is given, players can go there and map from it directly. More than 25 new endgame maps are coming, with endgame versions of the bosses added to the campaign.
On performance, Rogers said CPU speed improves by another 25% or so, about three times faster than the first early access release. Memory use drops by hundreds of megabytes, which matters most on consoles. Optimization cut the install by over 30 GB, but 40 GB of new content was added, so “the game isn’t any smaller,” he said, though it is “way smaller” on consoles.
