Path of Exile 2’s launch league for 1.0 is Conquerors of Wraeclast, game director Jonathan Rogers revealed at the ExileCon 2026 keynote. It is built around recruiting an army, building a castle and sieging enemy strongholds, and its trailer closed on the December 11, 2026 launch date.
The league opens with a rescue: free a group of mercenaries who defected from the Count, and their leader, Varek, asks for help freeing the rest of his men. Before each battle you place your troops on the battlefield: shield mercenaries resist arrows and knights are strong against undead. “This isn’t a mode where your army just fights for you. You’ll need to contribute to the battle personally,” Rogers said. Once the enemy army falls, you go inside and kill the boss, such as Valen, the Dread Carnifex, at Ogham Prison.
Troops cost gold, and running missions takes supplies you find in each campaign area. The campaign holds over 70 new points of interest tied to the league and 23 battles, from defending villages to breaking down gates. In the endgame you build a stronghold for one of three factions, the Karui, the Ezomyte or the Maraketh, each with over 20 buildings and upgrades, and later sieges bring in war elephants with goblin crews, twin-headed chimeras and catapults.
Bosses drop keys to castle treasuries holding a new crafting material, such as Crimson Iron, used for Reforging: the mods you select are replaced with random ones that become fractured and cannot be changed again. The story has Maraketh clans trying to resurrect a vampire lord named Savera, as spoken on stage, and the blood vials they collect let Reforging add specific mods instead of random ones. A shared war over 100 castles follows in the endgame.
