Path of Exile 2 1.0 adds controller and mouse hot swapping, GGG confirms

Swap the whole interface between controller and mouse and keyboard, or keep the console layout and use a mouse inside it.

Path of Exile 2 will let players switch between controller and mouse and keyboard on the fly when it leaves early access on December 11. Grinding Gear Games confirmed it during the developer Q&A at ExileCon 2026, with the developer who answered calling it “one promise I kept making” that the team had not delivered until now. “The hot swapping is finally done,” he said.

There are two ways to use it, according to the answer on stage. Players can hot swap the entire interface, so the game moves between the mouse and keyboard layout and the console layout depending on which input they pick up. Or they can keep the console interface and use a mouse inside it, which covers players who like a controller for combat but would rather manage the inventory with a mouse. “We’ve actually got both options for you,” he said.

The keynote earlier in the day did not mention the change. It came out in answer to a question from the ExileCon audience, with the developer adding that he had repeated the promise so many times that finishing it was a relief.

The developers did not say whether the feature arrives on PC only or on PS5 and Xbox as well, where a mouse and keyboard can also be connected. Patch notes for 1.0 have not been published yet.
