Ryan Laley Games has announced an October 27, 2026 Steam Early Access release for Mimic, an online social-deduction horror game set on a doomed spacecraft. The game blends survival horror with asymmetrical multiplayer gameplay inspired by Among Us, Secret Hitler, and Alien: Isolation.
In Mimic, five players work online or up to ten in private lobbies must escape the failing Icarus spacecraft while identifying which crew member is secretly a mimic — an alien creature disguised as human. Players are assigned secret roles with different win conditions: crew members must repair vital systems, an agent has a hidden corporate agenda, and the mimic must blend in and eliminate survivors. An NPC android hunts through the ship, and players can vote to direct it against suspects.
The game emphasizes survival over combat. Players have no weapons and must rely on teamwork, deception, and quick thinking. Dead players continue as invisible Omens that can sabotage the environment. Private lobbies offer customizable modifiers that affect objectives, hazards, and rules. The game also includes interactive streaming features that let Twitch viewers influence gameplay.
Mimic lands on Steam and Epic Games Store on October 27, 2026. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions arrive in 2027 after Early Access. Ryan Laley Games plans to add new maps, player roles, progression systems, narrative content, and gameplay mechanics based on player feedback during Early Access.
