The METRO Redux Next-Gen Update is out today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to PLAION and 4A Games. Existing owners of METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux can upgrade at no cost. The update is already available on PC through Steam, Windows, the Epic Games Store and GoG.

According to the publisher, the update offers true 4K at 60FPS or upscaled 4K at 120FPS. The upscaled 120FPS mode requires a compatible monitor or TV, per the press release. The update also adds visual upgrades, performance enhancements and platform-specific improvements. Full patch notes are available through the official METRO channels.

The release sets up METRO 2039, which launches Feb. 4, 2027. A new trailer for the sequel also went live today. PLAION describes the 2039 entry as the next chapter, with players taking on the role of The Stranger.

PLAION notes that regional availability may vary. Development of the METRO franchise continues in Ukraine and Malta, and 4A Games says it continues to support its team in Ukraine.
