Dotemu and Tribute Games have revealed a new gameplay trailer for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom, the next premium DLC for the tag-team beat ’em up. The expansion is out November 10 on Steam, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The headline addition is Castle Doom, a run-based game mode set inside Victor von Doom’s fortress. Players must fight through the castle before Doom activates the Cosmic Inductor, a flawed weapon that could end the cosmos. Each encounter charges the Stabilizer, a device built by Reed Richards to stop Doom’s plan.
How the run-based mode works
Players collect Battery Cells and complete challenges to earn upgrades from a set of 12 perks covering defense, damage and tactics. Failing a challenge debuffs your fighters, and traps are placed along the castle’s routes. Successful runs unlock new equipment, events and modifiers from Reed’s Lab for future attempts.
A Siege Gauge tracks the castle’s growing strength. According to the publisher, if the gauge fills completely before the final showdown with Doom, the run ends instantly. Bosses from the base game also return, allied with the castle’s Doom Bots.
The DLC also adds Susan Storm of The Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom as playable fighters. Players who defeat Doctor Doom unlock new color palettes for every playable hero, and the expansion includes original music from composer Tee Lopes.
