Solo developer DERANGED GAMES has opened a new open playtest for LAG KILLS, its upcoming horror survival game, ahead of Steam Scream Fest. The publisher is Zemore Indie Games. Players request access through the game’s Steam page.
The game puts players in the role of an intruder who breaks into a house they believe is empty. The owner is home, and he is lagging badly and angry. Players have to decide when to loot, when to hide, and how to escape before they are caught.
What the playtest adds
According to the developer, the build includes a fully playable level with new hiding spots and a playable lobby with a building and placement system. It also adds an in-game shop with upgrades and accessories, an inventory system with item inspection, and a UI overhaul.
Other changes include gameplay and performance optimizations, more jumpscares, and a new lights-out sequence near the end of the level with new cutscenes and unique gameplay.
The developer describes this playtest as the last singleplayer update before development shifts toward co-op. LAG KILLS is listed on Steam with horror, online co-op, singleplayer, dark and survival tags. A press kit is available, and the developer says more details will follow as development progresses.
