GOG revealed GOG Social at the GOG Showcase, a new space on its store for players to talk about games. It is in closed beta, and the show said early members will influence what gets built next.
According to the show, users can share screenshots and galleries, post videos and links, start discussions and run polls. Any game can be tagged in a post, and anyone reading can open that game on GOG with one click.
Conversations use threaded replies and reactions. Spoilers can be marked, topics can be subscribed to, and posts can be saved for later. Posts can also be edited at any time, and everything a user has shared is kept in one place.
The interface shown in the segment included polls and reply threads under topics such as Games and Gaming News, along with a section for the GOG Preservation Program. On-screen text invited viewers to join the closed beta through GOG. The show did not say when GOG Social will open to everyone.
