You play as Runt Stayer, the youngest of five brothers in a post-apocalyptic world where humans no longer dominate. The game centres on investigating a mystery that unfolds across multiple endings through a branching dialogue system. The story begins when something defaces your late father’s pulpit in an abandoned church, and you’re compelled to solve the mystery behind a countdown ending on the fifth anniversary of his death.
The game weaves together family dynamics, survival politics, and supernatural threats set in a rural gothic setting. Dialogue choices shape your relationships with townspeople and influence which of the multiple endings you reach. The studio describes the experience as blending complex family conflict with the dangers lurking outside your town’s walls.
Grimtaste Studios is a two-person team of Yves and Soren. The game features original photography and hand-painted art throughout its disquieting aesthetic.
