Publisher 1312 Interactive and developer Monotusk Studios have announced that Palm Sugar: A Village Story, a story-driven pixel RPG rooted in South Indian culture, will release on Windows PC on August 12, 2026. The game lands on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
Players follow Seenu, a quick-witted protagonist living in the village of Bellampakam. After a drug cartel overruns his home, Seenu embarks on a personal journey to reclaim the village and win back his sweetheart. The game features dialogue-rich encounters, puzzle-solving, and combat using rural weapons like sticks, axes, and slingshots.
The game draws heavily on South Indian culture and landscape. It includes pixel art graphics, a South Indian-inspired soundtrack, and a cast of local characters. Game director Kartheek Raj said the studio aims to deliver South Indian history and stories to a global audience, particularly those experiencing the culture for the first time.
A demo is available to download on Steam now. According to the publisher, the game was described as award-winning, though specific awards were not listed.
