Nier: Automata’s latest Steam update is asking some PC players for 366GB of free space, more than seven times the 50GB the game’s store page still lists. According to Square Enix’s own notes, the patch only adds three languages, and not everyone is seeing the giant number.

Square Enix’s Steam announcement says the update, dated November 6 in Japan, adds Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean. It lists no fixes, performance changes or new content.
Some players see 366GB, others an 8GB download
The Nier: Automata Steam forum filled up with threads titled “Why is it 366GB????” and “HELP! 366 GB REQUIERMENT!!!” within hours of the patch. Other players report a download of about 8GB instead. “Mine is 8 gb. For some people it’s 366 though. Really weird,” one player wrote.
Reports suggest the inflated figure mostly shows up when installing the game, and some players say it has already corrected itself on their end. The Steam store page still lists 50GB of required space.
Square Enix hasn’t explained the 366GB figure yet
Neither Square Enix nor PlatinumGames had addressed the install size as of Thursday afternoon. With only language files in the patch notes, the most likely explanation is a bug in how Steam calculates the size, not 300GB of new data, but that isn’t confirmed.
If you’d rather not risk it, you can hold the update for now: in Steam, right-click the game, open Properties, then Updates, and set automatic updates to “Only update this game when I launch it.” We’ll update this story if Square Enix responds.
