Dotemu and solo developer Regal Pigeon Games have released Chivalware on PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The roguelite costs $9.99, with a 10% launch discount available through Nov. 19, according to the publisher.
The game puts you in the role of a Disk Knight in a cyber-meets-medieval kingdom. You are tasked with slaying its King, who has been driven mad by power and years of isolation. As you fight your way toward the castle, strange glitches hint that something deeper is going on.
Combat is built around matching tiles
Combat takes place on a grid in real time. You match tiles to charge your weapons, and the publisher says avoiding hits is key to dealing maximum damage. Along the way you can unlock new items, weapons and playable characters. Floppy-disk-based weaponry is also part of the package.
Dotemu describes the game as a homage to one of gaming’s classic tactical adventures, with new twists added to the formula. According to the publisher, it is easy to pick up but takes real skill to master.
The soundtrack is sold separately on Steam for $2.99, with a two-week 15% discount. A bundle with the game is also available, offering a permanent 10% discount and a 14% discount during Dotemu’s publisher sale running Nov. 4 to 18.
